FORM Smart Swim 2 - Best Smart Swim Goggles KEY TAKEAWAY: The ability to see live split times during every lap completely changed the way I train. WHY I UPGRADED: The real reason I ended up buying the V2 was kind of a headache. One day at the pool, I tried to turn on my trusty Form V1 goggles and they just sat there on the logo boot screen, then told me to connect for an update. They wouldn’t connect to the app, so I went through every possible troubleshooting step, even hard-resetting to wipe the memory. Eventually I got them to reconnect, but then they just froze up during the updating process. At this point, I’d already reached out to Form, but of course, the goggles were out of warranty. I’m pretty sure I did this to myself, too, leaving my smart goggles in the case in the trunk of my black car during a week of Houston, Texas, heat in the mid 90s. Lesson learned, never again. So, I reluctantly bought the Form V2 goggles because who knows if or when my V1s would ever come back to life. Since I already had plenty of experience with the V1, I can really talk about the differences. CUSTOM WORKOUTS: These goggles can do a lot if you buy the subscription, you can build custom workouts and load them right onto the goggles, which is pretty cool. For me though, I really just use the Pool Swim feature, which works fine without any subscription. LIVE METRICS: I just push off the wall and instantly get all the stats I need. Current time, last split, last interval, how far I’ve swum, it’s a lifesaver for people like me who lose count during longer sets. About a month in, I noticed a slight leak, but tightening the straps fixed it. I might swap to a smaller nose piece, but even with that, they’re more comfortable than the V1 ever was. DISPLAY VISIBILITY: The screen brightness feels the same on both, but the V2 is a bit easier to see on bright days. I should mention my V1 was pretty beat up by then and had lost most of its sun blocking coating. I also noticed that the push off detection feels different, V2 sometimes starts the clock a bit sooner than the V1 did, so at first, my splits seemed slower. After a few weeks, I stopped noticing, so maybe the goggles adapted, or maybe I just got used to it. STORAGE CASE: The V2 storage case is more compact, which I like, though I do wish the divider inside did a better job protecting the lenses. So far, no scratches or issues, though. I kept seeing people call this one a dupe so I finally ordered it to compare them myself. I actually have this bag and a similar Dagne Dover now, so I’ve been able to look at both side by side in real life. COLOR OPTIONS: When I first came across this bag it only came in green and pink, while the Dagne Dover had black, grey, navy, green, and pink. By the time I placed my order the Bunso Baby bag added grey, although it cost a little more. Meanwhile the Dagne Dover added red and tan as seasonal colors. When I bought the Bunso bag in grey it came out to about ninety one dollars with tax, while the Dagne Dover in large was two hundred thirty one dollars after tax. They do offer a military discount which helps a bit but it is still a big price jump. If you are trying to save money this bag easily wins here. Color variety, not so much, especially since they only stocked around ten of the grey ones and they sold out fast. SIZE COMPARISON: The Bunso Baby measurements are listed as 16.06 by 15.51 by 3.82 inches, although I swear that depth feels bigger than that number. The Dagne Dover large is 12.25 by 13.75 by 6 inches. Bunso Baby answered a sizing question and said 13 by 15 by 6 which only adds to the confusion. Either way this bag is definitely larger. It weighs about three pounds while the Dagne Dover weighs six and a half. I personally would never go for the small or medium Dagne Dover so a bigger size is great. Size is really a personal preference here so I don’t think either one is the clear winner. MATERIAL QUALITY: The materials are where you see the biggest gap between the two bags. This bag is made from neoprene while the Dagne Dover uses premium neoprene and performance air mesh. This difference shows right away when you open them up. The Bunso bag really does mimic the general look of the Dagne Dover but you can tell that it is a more affordable version. Dagne Dover does a beautiful job color matching everything, inside and out. This one does not. On the sides and straps of the Bunso Baby bag you can see a reflective fabric that the Dagne Dover does not have and the hardware on this bag does not match the body the same way. The texture also feels less soft. Dagne Dover definitely wins in terms of material quality. One thing worth noting though, a lot of people complain about the Dagne Dover smell for the first few weeks and this bag had absolutely no smell at all. BAG ACCESSORIES: Both bags come with many of the same extras including a changing pad, stroller straps, a laundry bag, and a small pouch. The main difference here is the design of the stroller straps. This bag comes with two straps that each have metal hooks and can hook together depending on your stroller. Dagne Dover uses plastic clips that attach directly to the stroller. I like the look of their clips better but these metal ones fit more stroller styles so they end up being useful in different ways. DAGNE ALTERNATIVE: If you are still reading this you are probably deep in the process of choosing between this bag and the Dagne Dover. My honest take is that this is absolutely a dupe, in the sense that it is not perfect and there are things I would tweak, but there are also things I would change about the Dagne Dover too. DOWNSIZING: I’ve played ping-pong since I was a kid but never on a smaller table… always on a big full-size one. After my wife and I moved into a smaller home (downsizing after the kids flew the coop) we realized that although we wanted a ping-pong table we really didn't have the room for it and decided to take the plunge with this Pro Spin compact tennis table. FIRST IMPRESSIONS: I had my doubts, obviously, but within seconds of getting this set up it was exactly what we were looking for. We haven't stopped playing since. The coolest thing is that when we teach our grandkids to play it's actually a full size table for them because they're still small. EASY ASSEMBLY: We’re in our 70s and found that putting together the table was actually super easy which I was a little concerned about. We've used it to play card games, board games, even Jenga. STORAGE: When I go to store it, I just have to fold the legs back beneath each side of the table and there's no wheels on the legs, either. Took a little bit of time getting used to that, but it’s not an issue. It’s pretty light and it really doesn't need the wheels to move around. I can do it by myself if I wanted to. PRICE COMPARISON: When you think about the price, consider this: if you can assume that a full-size table is $600, then less than $300 for a compact table is super reasonable. You need to have a lot of room for your toes to stretch if you want to get rid of foot pain and feel ‘barefoot’. You’re supposed to have enough room to wiggle your toes freely. BREAK-IN PERIOD: Start slowly. Don’t push yourself. Make the transition gradual. If you do, I guarantee that these will feel better than shoes by other brands, such as Feelgrounds, Altra, Bedrock and Anatomic. You really do feel naturally barefoot, and it’s amazing, but you do need to take it slow. VALUE FOR MONEY: Vivo Barefoot shoes, generally speaking, are not cheap. However, they are affordable. I don’t think you can find a better quality pair for the money. They are reliable and durable, and will last for at least 18 months. They’re usually cheaper on Amazon than at shops and department stores. SIZING: I’m normally a 10.5. I ordered an 11, which is 44 in the UK. This model, and Vivo in general, is supposed to be longer and wider than your actual foot. You have to feel comfortable and natural, as if you’re wearing slippers. BAREFOOT TRANSITION: I do recommend taking an easy start with Vivo, especially if you’re a first-timer. For the first two weeks, your calves may hurt. It takes some time to strengthen your feet. But it’ll be worth it, I promise. You’re going to have so much support for your feet, even if you have a high arch, like I do. The funny thing is that my brother, who has a flatfoot, also loves this model. I don’t know how to explain it. We can’t imagine going back to any other brand. Pro-tip: Like a secret passageway at Hogwarts, at the back of the hotel is a wooden backdoor. Through the door, you’ll stumble into a hidden alley that will lead you directly to town. I’ll admit I witnessed a few walk-of-shamers sneaking their way out in the early morning hours (as I made my way back after a night of dancing). By the way, the hotel offers a complimentary shuttle with one of the nicest drivers I’ve ever met. He told me stories about the island, and gave me nightlife tips and advice on what to do and where to go. The shuttle from the port (if you travel by ferry) is also complimentary. Suites: Greek Traditional Touches The suites at the Rochari blend traditional Greek aesthetics with contemporary comfort. They’re renovated and have a gorgeous minimalist design, with no unnecessary decoration. Each room comes complete with a complimentary electric kettle, instant coffee, tea, and sugar! Talk about a morning pickup. The hotel room desk, where the kettle is placed, was a combo kitchen and work station - essentially everything I needed for my stay. The whole area was lit well, and I had enough space to stay organized, meaning I could type away on my laptop to write this very review! Some instant coffee and a computer makes me a happy gal! Rooms are cleaned daily, and there’s even a night shift housekeeper, meaning you get a cleaner twice a day! Their Molton Brown bath and skincare products are top of the line, and even include shaving and dental kits. Plus, you get your own bathrobe and slippers. Oh, and can we talk about the views? My suite, like most others, had a balcony that opened up to the Aegean Sea, which stretched like a sparkling paradise, absolutely mesmerizing. You can choose between eight different room styles, starting at deluxe rooms all the way up to mansion suites. With such a range of options, there’s a space for every type of traveler – from the singletons like me, to couples on romantic getaways, or families traveling with the whole brood. Breakfast: Fresh Greek Plates Breakfast at the Rochari is served between eight and eleven and offers an all-you-can-eat buffet, as well as individual menu options, all included with your stay. I recommend you get your finest silverware out 'cause you’re gonna have a lot to choose from! If you’re like me and like to try eggs in different styles, then pick from scrambled, fried, or just a good ol’ omelet. There’s even a white omelet! Eggs are the best way to get some extra protein and veggies, and I love how you can throw in mushrooms, peppers, tomato, bacon, ham, turkey, and of course - my all time favorite - cheese! If you’re addicted to coffee like I am, rest assured you can pick from any type of caffeine to top off your breakfast - and it all comes included! Choose from an espresso, cappuccino, macchiato, latte, or get extra fancy and grab a cafe frappe. The barista and I pretty much became besties, mainly because I was determined to try it all, and I could order as many as I liked! Day one of my stay, I was convinced I wasn’t going to let the lure of vacation add a pound to my waist. I often find that staying healthy during my vacations let’s me enjoy them more, so for that reason I ordered an omelet (and threw in a few different cheeses and mushrooms), a green leaf salad with Greek balsamic vinegar, and a healthy protein shake with blueberries and oatmeal. Then on day two, I realized that 'Vacation Me' and 'Normal Me' are different people for a reason! I ripped off my belt and said, oh well, a little indulgence never hurt no one! So I tasted everything I’d normally consider bad for myself while relaxing on the terrace. I embraced the outdoor atmosphere... and the pool I planned to jump in later. You may think it’s too much food, but trust me when I say, breakfast rings different in Greece. Probably because so much of the food tastes like a dessert, but hey, I was vacationing, wasn't I? All in all, the menu was a lavish spread of local flavors, so I guarantee you’d want to tempt your tastebuds. Think fresh fruit, pastries, and of course, Greek yogurt (which is so much better tasting when you’re in Greece!). Personally, I loved the crepes with honey and cinnamon. Amenities: Gym, Pool & Spa Of course, Mykonos is an awesome place to get your dance on and go club hopping, but you’re probably going to need a break at some point. And sometimes the best part of vacation is doing absolutely nothing. AKA relaxing at the hotel spa and pool. While there's a modestly equipped gym for those who want to stay active, personally, I got enough steps in walking those cobblestone streets, and decided instead to lounge at the pool. And no, this is nothing like your neighborhood motel pool. This place is an experience. The fresh water pool not only has spectacular ocean views, but a full wine bar with a food menu of fresh dishes. I highly recommend the fried cheese croquettes and the veggie spring rolls. You’ll need those carbs before you head out, and even better, you can order a glass of Pinot with your meal. I’m not sure I can think of a better way to pregame than by lounging by the pool. At night, the pool only gets better. Every Wednesday and Saturday there’s live music from the Starlets with hits from the 80s, 90s, and 00s. The spa at the Rochari is an experience to behold. First, I tried the Rochari Signature Detox Ritual, and the following day I took the Ancient Greek Massage. George, the only spa therapist on duty, is a Greek man with magical hands. I swear I walked out with fewer wrinkles. Bye bye crow's feet! I really think you should aim at making yourself a priority, so sometimes you have to just let go…. and have a spa day! With holistic massages, as well as face and body treatments geared towards enhancing youth, be prepared to walk out feeling five years younger. Dinner: Greek Evening Menu Dinner at the Rochari is an event, not only because of the first class cuisine, but because half of the restaurant is situated outdoors on the lounge terrace where you can eat among the stars. Literally! The hotel’s restaurant serves up a tantalizing array of dishes, and by far my favorite among them was the truffle burger. It’s essentially a beef burger that comes with rocket leaves, sauteed mushrooms, truffle mayo, and a bit of parmesan. I also tried the salmon filet. It came served on top of a couscous salad, with a dressing that combined Dijon mustard, honey, and some kind of citrus. If my taste buds had words, they’d probably scream out in joy, because this thing was good. You can indulge in these for lunch too! And, yeah, there were also menus for salads, as well as something they call ‘Healthy Era’. But as someone who was on her ‘Vacation Era’, I chose the fats and carbs, thank you very much! Hospitality: Warm & Attentive Service As if all that weren’t already impressive, the service at the Rochari is exceptionally attentive and hands-on. The owners of the hotel, the Kousathana family, welcome you like family rather than guests, something that you’d be lucky to find here in Orlando, FL. So although I was worried about the culture shock of feeling like an outsider, my shock came actually from the staff’s kindness. Even if it’s your first time visiting, they’ll greet you like veteran guests. Not only are they friendly, but they’re walking encyclopedias of everything Mykonos, and they’re more than happy to give you all the tips and tricks to the Island. Final Takeaway: A Stay Worth Returning To While I didn’t fall in love with any Greek men on my trip, I can definitely say I fell head over heels for Mykonos, and that’s honestly because I had such a great place to stay. With their welcoming staff and beautiful scenery, the Rochari met all my expectations and more. It's easy to book online, and it gave me the feeling of luxury without killing my wallet. You can even order a personal trainer, a shopping assistant and yacht services for surprisingly affordable prices. So if you're looking for a place that encapsulates the beauty and soul of Mykonos, Rochari is where your search ends. I genuinely can't wait to come back to this paradise!

Human experience is complex, and rendering truth requires a careful eye. Somehow Ariel Babinsky manages to funnel relatable life experiences into his artistic creations in drawing, painting, photography and film. Background: The Personal Backstory Born in Israel in 1981, Babinsky studied political science at Columbia University in New York. Through living in the East Village and traveling across small town America, he gained insight into what his art aims to represent: the most simple moments are actually complex: the more raw and unembellished, the more honest and deep. His portraits are collages created with a combination of book pages, torn images, acrylic and charcoal. They depict men, in some levels of undress, their gaze introspective, questionable, raw. It’s a portal into privacy. The viewer becomes a kind of a voyeur, witnessing a personal, intimate moment. Come And Get It No. 8 (2020) 110x90cm (43.3x35.4in) “I want to leave something that is a record of something else. To distill an experience, which is otherwise very complex. To just show it.” It’s his unique approach to each piece that sets him apart. Grounded in simplicity – a concept he attributes to his early artistic influences – Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and the literary voice of J.D. Salinger – he strives to communicate directly with his audience. Warhol’s immediacy, Basquiat’s instinct, and Salinger’s unembellished directness, have all left an indelible mark on his creative outlook. It’s this ethos of simplicity – of stripping away the superfluous to reveal the core of the human condition – that defines Babinsky’s work. Come And Get It No. 2 (2019) 70x100cm (27.5x39.3in) Painting: Building Images With Collage Babinsky’s process is a delicate balance between discovery and creation. He always begins with a found image that strikes a chord with him. “Sometimes something touches me,” he explains, “and I want to leave it as a record because I think it’s really amazing.” That found image serves as the foundation for what will become a complex interplay of color, texture and form. Nikita (2022) 70x100cm (27.5x39.3in) After creating his initial collage, Babinsky then uses acrylic paint and charcoal to layer, highlight or obscure elements of the original image, breathing new life into it, yet keeping it connected to the source material. This process is not just about the act of creation for him. It’s a ritual of preservation, a way to immortalize fleeting moments of beauty and significance that might otherwise fade into obscurity. Simply put, he wants to show what it is that he finds beautiful, what he wants to be remembered. “I very often find myself thinking that if I don’t do something with it, it’d be forgotten. That’s why I have to do it. Because nobody’d see it unless I do.” Babinsky explains that he doesn’t really enjoy the process of creation. It’s a difficult, time-consuming experience that drains his energy. And as a perfectionist, he won’t stop until it’s done. However, he does enjoy the final result. And he’s not the only one. A Greek art collector commissioned a painting of the Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan. King Fazza (2021) 120x120cm (47.2x47.2in) The painting depicts the Crown Prince in a marble-esque deep-coral collage with cracks across the surface. The cracks give around one of his eyes, revealing the truth beneath the facade: what he actually looks like behind the mask. You see the color of his skin, the iris, the eyebrow. It’s the main focal point in the image. As a member of the royal family – and heavily in the public eye – it’s likely the Crown Prince wears a mask, a carefully contrived image to present to the people. And yet Babinsky’s image urges us to consider that there is another person beneath the surface; one deeper, raw. It’s the nature of identity, of what is left when you take everything else away. Every Man Jack (2022) 50x40cm (19.6x15.7in) Photography: Emotional Documentation With his photography, Babinsky portrays masked men from various angles. All are shirtless, some are completely nude, but each are posed in a way that they are partially in frame, and partially out of it. His photographs have a VHS effect, almost as if the image is a still from a video, one from the 70s even. Faded colors. Hints of lime green and plum-purple lining the edges. Still from The King Jason Series © Private Collection, Greece To say the least, the photographs are jarring. They give a sense that you’re viewing something you’re not supposed to. A still from a personal sex tape, perhaps? No. More like a personal photograph you’d share only with those you trust. For that reason, you wonder: Do I dare look at this? And yet, you can’t look away, and can’t help but wonder who these men are, and why they’re hiding their identities behind a mask. In fact, the one figure whose genitals we do see (cropped below), is the only man who discarded his mask, except his face is now hidden behind his arm. His features are obscured as he leans over, seemingly in shame. Again, Babinsky confronts the raw vulnerability of self-identity. The man who shows the most, who has taken the leap to discard his mask, still can’t show his face. For me, it creates an interesting dilemma: the more vulnerable we become, the more we have to hide, because sometimes what’s real is just too much. Still from The King Jason Series © Private Collection, Greece Film: Capturing Authentic Moments In many ways, his videography is an extension of his pieces, a confrontation of the rawness of human life. His experimental shorts and his longer, full-length pieces, bring something different to the focal point of art. Like his photographs, each film has the same VHS filter effect, which creates the illusion that this is a piece of film you wouldn’t find in theaters, but instead in someone’s personal vault. When Babinsky first transitioned to film, he started by putting a camera in front of his actors and just allowing them to speak their mind. And while he describes them as actors, he admits that the goal was not for them to act, but to allow them to speak. “That’s why I have to catch a moment with them,” he explains. “They can do something amazing in front of the camera, but they can only do it once, and you have to catch that ‘one time’. It cannot be recreated.” Still from Rags to Riches © Ariel Babinsky Ltd Babinsky then graduated to writing scripts. In ‘Rags to Riches’, his first full-length experimental film, the actress acted out the script in front of the camera, reading the lines while directly addressing the lens. Eventually, his film process evolved to an actor performing with a voiceover of the script behind it. In ‘King Jason’, a man enters a room surrounded by Babisnky’s own paintings and then gradually disrobes. The voiceover, by a woman, plays as a stream of thought. My personal interpretation? As the woman’s thoughts become more personal, more vulnerable, the actor discards more clothes until he’s fully nude, exposed as he faces the camera. It’s an exploration of the rawness of vulnerability. And yet whether or not this was Babinsky’s intention is unclear. Maybe that’s what makes his creation unique. It’s truly up to the viewer to decide what they see. Although Babinsky edits his scripts extensively, he doesn’t touch the recordings. And that’s really the key to his film goals. Record realness, rawness. Humans talking about life. Still from King Jason © Ariel Babinsky Ltd Art: Exploring Emotion Without Pretense Babinsky refuses to ascribe a fixed meaning to his work. That reluctance is reflective of his belief in the subjective nature of art. He sees his creations as mirrors, reflecting back the viewers’ thoughts, feelings and interpretations. This philosophy underscores his approach to art as an authentic expression of life, devoid of pretense and showiness. In his own words, there’s no inherent meaning in art. It simply is. “The meaning of the work is whatever the viewer gives it. When you look at a painting, whatever you feel, whatever you’re thinking, that’s the meaning of it.” Golden State Warriors (2020) 80x120cm (31.4x47.2in) As a self-proclaimed night owl, Babinsky’s creative process is marked by nights spent in deep contemplation and days filled with the physical act of creation. It’s a way of life, a means of engaging with the world around him. Ultimately, he’s created a compelling narrative of exploration and reflection. Through his work, he invites us to strip away our preconceptions and just engage with it.
